Chamberwatch – Prague – CAFE DU COMMERCE 7 mars / 7. brezna 2011

February 28, 2011 Leave a comment

As part of our new service “Chamberwatch” we keep you up to date on what the various Chambers of Commerce are planning around our region. Here’s one from the French Chamber. If you subscribe just to the Quoracy.com blog, you’ll automatically be able to tap in to these events.

Most Chamber Events are available for non-members, but in the case of paid events the non-members will pay more. Non-paid events may accept non-members only if there is insufficient demand from members. Or they may expect you to join if you start to become a regular face at these events, which is entirely reasonable. It is however not meant to keep non-members from trying out Chamber events as this is universally encouraged.

BCC Invitation to workshop “Negotiating – The Win-Win Approach”, 10th March 2011, Prague

February 10, 2011 2 comments

Prague-1

On the Vltava

Jon Rowley is a personal friend of mine, so I warmly recommend people who are in Prague at that time to attend this. I hope to be there myself.

I understand that you don’t have to be a member of the British Czech Chamber to go, but that for non-members the fee is slightly higher.

Dear Members and Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to our media workshop“Negotiating – The Win-Win Approach”.  It will take place on Thursday, 10 March 2011 at the Hotel Grand Majestic Plaza, Truhlářská 16, Prague 1, from 9.00 – 5.00 p.m.

The skill of negotiating agreements and positions with business partners, suppliers, customers and clients is a vital one. The Win-Win approach ensures both parties are satisfied with the negotiated agreement; this is a vital facet of modern B2B service and ensures that supply relationships last.

We are delighted to invite you to this practical workshop, which aims to help you become a more confident, effective negotiator.  The day is designed to give you opportunities to learn by practising.  The workshop will cover:

- Understanding the negotiation process
- How to understand what your negotiating partner’s interests are
- “Knowing your BATNA from your ZOPA” (the language of negotiating!)
- Learning to trade concessions: and much, much more!

To close the day, everyone will have the opportunity to practice their new negotiations skills in a roleplay, where you will need to work with your team to negotiate and save the world from destruction!

The trainer Jon Rowley brings his well-renowned reputation of teaching in an entertaining way and with an interactive approach to this special day of BCC skills training.  Videos, movie clips, discussion, roleplay and practice are a hallmark  of Jon’s training approach.

Speaker: Jon Rowley – CV HERE

“Negotiating – The Win-Win Approach” is designed for anyone who regularly needs to negotiate in business, whether it’s closing a million Euro contract with a client or getting a new office chair from your boss. Who knows, you might even learn some tricks to get the children to do what you ask occasionally!

Please note:  Cancellation of confirmed participation can be made no later than Friday, 7 March at 5.00 p.m. No-shows will be invoiced after the event in full amount. We reserve the right to make changes to the programme due to unforeseen circumstances. By registering, you give your consent to our maintaining and processing your personal data, and using your electronic address for the purpose of disseminating business-related communications by the BCC and its sponsors.

Book HERE.

In the following article produced for the benefit of their clients but included here for general interest, is an article by one of Luxmed’s experts showing why it is that in Poland even privately insured patients still may be required by their doctor to possess proof of social insurance under certain circumstances.

Witam,

Happy Valentines to all the readers of Quoracy.com

I thought this one was quite quaint, and olde worldy. Little bit kitschy, but not too much...

Plaxo eCards logo

When I was a child, Valentine‘s cards seemed, in England anyway, to be sent only to people that one wished to be romantically involved with. But there was often an element of humour and light-heartedness about them. And probably that is how they started out.

Many of you will have read Thomas Hardy‘s “Far from the Madding Crowd” and remember the scene where Bathsheba Everdene sends Gabriel Oak a Valentine on a whim which he takes very seriously afterwards, and it determines a lot of the later action in the novel.

In recent years the light heartedness seems to have come to the fore, and despite the endless worries about the risks of being accused of harassment in the workplace, colleagues seem to send light-hearted ones to each other on February 14th each year.

Now in the era of social networking it is easier than ever to send these cards. The above example is from Plaxo – premium Plaxo users get to send out cards to their networks on many occasions – I recently used it for Hannukah, Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and I sent out a few for V-Day as well – to people whom I know won’t take it the wrong way – I don’t want to end up with any modern day female versions of Gabriel Oak on my trail!

I haven’t done a poll yet on this blog, so maybe this is a good moment, especially as the readership is picking up as I can see from my stats (thank you for that, gentle readers) to try one.

So please pick an option:
